The Walking Dead

The decision we make in the game do matter but not in the way we expected. Most people who play the game think that the game might have a happy ending for everyone if you make the right choices, however that is not the case. The deaths and the events of the game would only be lightly different than that of other people's based on your decisions. What is definitely changing through the many decisions and alliances you have to make is the character of Lee and how the people around you respond to that character. An example of this is when you have to chose between Kenny and Larry in episode 1. The articles describe videos games as the medium of actions and play because the events are happening as you make them happening and nothing is predetermined or planned ahead. There are cases in the game where the story choices are coherent regardless of the judgments you make.

My reaction to episode 5 was that of shock, fear, sadness and a big WTF moment at the very end with the after credit scene. The diegesis of this episodes is more pronounced as you have to make very important decisions that ultimately end with how you spend you last few minutes before death. The player-machine interaction was a bit lagging at times in previous episodes but overall it was well done in this. Another element of the diegetic elements of the game was the fact that you had to give answers for every horrible thing you did and you had to confront the victim of one of those choices. This really made the episode interesting for me.  Thought the ultimate shock that Clementine has to kill you or leave you to be a walker is heart wrenching.

questions?
1. Did you decide to leave Lee to be a walker or did you kill him?
2. What elements of the gameplay and the narrative was interesting and compelling to you?
3. What Could have been better in your opinion of the story or gameplay?
