Walking Dead: Ending the Game

The Walking Dead went from successful comic book to successful game, allowing for the tough decisions that are read about to be actually forced upon the player in order to advance the game. While the choices that we had Lee Everett make didn't change the overall outcome of the game, spoiler alert: he dies, it changed how we viewed him as a character and how the others did as well. Most players wanted Clementine to view Lee with a sort of shaded stance: she knew he did bad things but they were for the greater good. She would ask "Why did you kill those people?" and he could either lie to her, or tell her the truth, masking how bad the world really is in order to keep her filled with hope. This decision, along with other tough decisions that players themselves have to make are just small glimpses that relate to the world we live in today. The human condition, fear, hope, and needing to survive for another day aren't things that are always on the top of the list living in a world where everything else is a luxury, but for some it's how they live day to day. It gives a deeper meaning to the game, and the gaming experience as a whole, allowing for a greater connection from player to game in just a few short episodes.
