Adaptation: When and Where

Adaptations are meant to convert a source to another type of media/print, etc. but ultimately change and alter the original in some way. Adaptations can have different contexts than the original. Some important changes adaptations can make are time, change of language, setting, removing/adding things. As stories travel through people and places their representation and context may change to fit the time/place or what someone is trying to achieve. Stories that adapt to an environment better than others will survive longer. Different cultures call for different changes in a story.

What typed of adaptations are most likely to survive throughout society?
