Throne of Blood

At first, watching Throne of Blood, I thought it was going to be extreme torture to watch. And while it was pretty hard to watch it wasn't necessarily so bad. I think the Director definitely made some smart choices in the symbolism he uses like the spinning wheel the witch is turning and the props/dialogue used by the actors. He was smart in taking out Macduff and adding in the additional tension of Lady Macbeth being pregnant and losing her baby. Washizu definitely played his character up and took advantage of him being able t use many emotions/actions. The dynamic between Washizu and his wife shone through very well and you could understand their relationship in how they acted towards each other, how they never made eye contact and their body language as well. The director did a very good job in making the witch creepy, which is an important element in the play, and also I didn't mind that there was only one witch instead of 3, because the message still came across.

The use of music/scene flow was a little hard to take, because the flow was so slow and the screeching music was definitely something I will never get used to even if I watched it a thousand times.
Although Throne of Blood had many different elements and a completely different style than the original Shakespeare play Macbeth, it didn't bother me that it was so different and it was a very interesting take on Macbeth.
