Reaction to the film Macbeth

My initial reaction to the film was nothing positive actually.  When I first started watching it I thought the cinematography was amazing especially for a movie on PBS, however the dialogue was a bit off putting for the time period it was set in.  It's obvious no one talked in Shakespearean old English around the times of World War 1 and 2 so this felt very awkward at first but I soon got used to it and it seemed alright.  I can at least say it wasn't nearly as bad as Romeo + Juliet adaptation.  Starting with the negatives I had with the movie; actually there were very little.  I liked the actors chosen for the roles and I thought every ones acting was superb.  I also really liked the setting, I thought that it was interesting the time period chosen yet it worked.  It was cool seeing the abbey as the "castle" but just because it was cool doesn't mean I liked it.  It was rather dull having the whole movie take place in just one place more or less.  It was all inside which added no natural lighting, yes I thought the lighting was done very well in the film and evoked a lot of emotion, however I think a lot could have been done outside as well.  That being said the dinner scene where it was just a long table and nothing in the room seemed unrealistic to me with a character such as Macbeth who was thirsty for power and wanted everything.  One thing I did really like that they did in that scene was have a giant self portrait of Macbeths face behind him.  This gave me the feeling of egotism, something a lot of dictators especially ones around that time period had.  Also the marching of the troops and mass murder of people including families reminded me of Hitler.  It also reminded me of the end of the Godfather where when the power goes into Michael's hands he has a lot of "trash taken out" people killed such as what was done in Macbeth.  I also really liked how the movie ended with Macbeth and Lady Macbeth bloody, holding hands, going down in the elevator as if they're descending into hell.  All in all it was a decent movie that if I were to give a rating out of 5 stars I would give 3.5.
